I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time in 2023 with my best friend at the time. I was hooked by the end of the first episode and immediately wanted to know more about the Evas, and by the middle of the series I was fully invested. Ever since then, I have gone back to it again and again. Evangelion is where I turn when I'm at my lowest points, ever comforting in its imagery, characters, and themes. I can always count on this show to be a space where I can just sit and feel out my emptiness, boredom, sadness, and anger. I feel like writing this is almost a little pointless, because words can barely even describe the impact this series has had on my personality and how much it means to me.
